Bachelorette Episode 5: Whistler Dates and Drama

Jillian will go from 10 guys down to 8 tonight. My predictions: Michael, Kip and Jesse get roses for their 1:1 dates. Someone wants to go home, most likely Ed. Since we know that Kip, Reid, Wes and Jesse get home town dates, they are still around. If there’s a 5th hometown date, I think it goes to Michael, whose parents live in California. Jake will probably go next week after the Banff rose ceremony, and then he he shows up in Austin when Wes has his HTD. Robby is in screencaps on the train next week, so he’s safe tonight but likely will go next week.

Who is left? Tanner and Mark. Do they go home tonight, or is it Ed and Tanner or Ed and Mark? If the Ed drama is not just a producers’ tease, and he really leaves, I’ll go with Ed and Mark. If Ed doesn’t refuse his rose, or Jillian talks him into staying, I’ll go with Tanner and Mark.

The final three look to be Ed (who appears to make a return in Spain and Hawaii), Kip and Reid. The dark horse: Break dancer Michael.

I’ll be back with final thoughts once the show begins here in Mountain Time. In the meantime, here’s another preview from tonight.

Update: 8:22 pm: Ed tells Jillian he has to leave, Jillian cries. Given her connection, tonight alone, Wes, Michael, Kip, Reid and Jesse (and there’s 40 minutes to go), it’s hard to figure why she’s so upset. Looks like it’s either Tanner or Mark that will go home. I’ll go with Mark, he has shown the least personality and gotten the passed-over edit. No one probably even knows who he is, so he won’t be missed. Tanner will go next week, his ratting will have worn its course by then, just as his foot fetish did a few weeks ago, and the producers will feel he’s reached the end of the road. So far, he and Bizarro now-departed David are the only one who haven’t gotten kisses.

8:33 p.m. Ed leaves, but won’t give her the rose back. It’s pretty obvious he changes his mind in a few weeks which is why we see him again in Spain and Hawaii.

8:48pm: This has to be the least suspenseful episode ever. It’s only Tanner that could be eliminated. The rose ceremony is about to start. And it’s not Tanner. It’s Mark. He blames himself for not being open.

9:02pm: Most unusual preview of coming episode ever: Whoever is with Jillian in the fantasy suite on an overnight date can’t perform. How embarassing for him on national tv. Who is it? Depends on whether it’s in Spain or Hawaii. Time to freeze the screencaps and analyze.

I went over to a friend’s house and three of us watched. We played a drinking game: “Here for the right/wrong reasons,” drink. “Connection,” drink. “Amazing journey,” drink.

There were no Amazing Journeys last night, but a lot of “here for the right/wrong reasons”!
