Bachelorette: The Party’s Over

null

Update 7/28: Ratings were so good they are replaying the finale tonight before the ATFR show. I’m glad my predictions below turned out to be correct. Jillian seems so happy with her choice, I feel badly I can’t share her enthusiasm about Ed, but if anyone’s to blame, it’s ABC for the way they edited him and scripted the season.

7/27: 6:42pm MT:

Final spoilers and my prediction: Jillian will choose Ed at the end of the Final Rose Ceremony during the last five minutes of tonight’s Bachelorette finale and is now engaged to him.

Reid, the realtor from Philly who attracted quite a fan base in recent weeks, even before he was eliminated in Maui, and who comes back during the FRC to tell Jillian he really does love her, is rejected. Ed, the Microsoft salesman from Chicago, who bowed out mid-series purportedly for work and then returned a few episodes later, who is widely rumored to have had two girlfriends when he went on the show, who thinks passing gas is so funny he posted a you tube video about it (his only video), whose idea of a good time is to go to a karaoke bar, who is the only guy who had performance problems with Jillian when they had their overnight date, and who in one episode is so drunk he can’t even form a sentence, is the guy she picks. Bachelorette Finale Episode Spoilers

ABC has gone from telling us Reid Rosenthal’s return at the Bachelorette Finale next Monday makes Jillian question everything, to Reid’s return changes everything. (Text of both below.) Jillian says she recently started her own interior design business in Vancouver, Jillian Harris Designs. Sounds like we’re down to just a few possibilities and the most likely one is Reid’s return made her change her mind about accepting a proposal from either Kip or Ed, and she rejected or deferred all proposals at the FRC. She’s back home in Vancouver, on her own, but happy.

If that’s the case, what we’ll find out at the ATFR (After the Final Rose) is whether, in the intervening two months between when the finale filmed on May 24th, and when the ATFR is filmed (tomorrow), she continued to see one of them and, whether it’s either going great or it’s over. The other possibilities: Continue reading

The Bachelorette: Location Scoops for Last Chance Dates and Finale

Finale Estate Pool

Who gets what date on the season finale of The Bachelorette, filmed on Hawaii’s Big Island, and where did filming take place? Here are some scoops. Going further, KapohoKine Adventures says on their website they took Jillian and one of the F2 bachelors on this date:

Tune in and watch Jillian and one of the two final bachelors relax in style at one of the many breathtaking private locations available only to KapohoKine Adventures’ guests. After being flown over hot lava by private helicopter, then landing alongside a stunning, secluded waterfall for a gourmet Hawaiian barbecue followed by kayaking, champagne and frolicking with her man, Jillian allowed the magic of Hawaii and the aloha spirit to relax her soul and guide her heart in her quest for true love.

The second date was arranged by Captain Zodiac Adventures. Here’s their press release about the date (pdf): Continue reading

Bachelorette: Jillian’s “Men Tell All”

Tonight is Jillian Harris’ “Men Tell All Episode” on The Bachelorette. Everybody knows Reid, Ed and Kiptyn won’t be there and neither will Wes. You’ll see lots of Dave, Jake, Tanner and Juan, more talk about “man codes” and more gratuitous Wes Hayden bashing. And Dave talking about how he thought Melissa was going to be the Bachelorette and how he was being considered for the Bachelor over Jason. Plus, an update with Jason and Molly.

Why watch? For the preview of next week’s finale. The latest sneak peek commercial talks about a bachelor coming back to propose, which of course is Reid. But, in the episode description of tonight’s show, ABC writes:

It’s the bachelors like you’ve never seen them before! The show includes a special sneak peek at the season finale and the final two bachelors, Ed and Kiptyn.

They’ll show Ed and Kip but not Reid? Would that be true if he were her final choice? Uh-Oh, Reid. Continue reading

Bachelorette’s Wes Hayden Says “The Gloves Are Off”

Country music singer Wes Hayden, who as I’ve frequently written, is mad as h*ll about the way he was edited on the Bachelorette, is coming out swinging.

Wes Hayden

Hayden was portrayed as a ruthless player who wasn’t on the show to find love, but instead had a secret girlfriend and a larger motive to promote his singing career. Now Hayden says he’s on a mission to clear his name. He is denying that he had a girlfriend while taping the show, and he says he’s a victim of creative editing.

“I signed a contract with them, so I knew they could portray my character any way they saw fit,” Hayden said. “But they have totally slandered me and taken my words and put them out of context. They cut, they paste, they left vital sentences out.”

Sounds like Wes has lawyered up and a battle may be brewing. I’ll bet it’s good for both Wes and the show. Jillian Harris may have moved on to Ed, Kip or Reid (yes, he may return, remember it’s the revolving door season) but Wes is between a rock and a hard place. Either he stays silent and endures hate mail and concert cancellations due to the allegedly phony editing, or he plays David to Goliath and fights back against ABC.

He’s got a growing following on Facebook, My Space and Twitter. And, he’s ramping up his media interviews. Continue reading

Bachelorette: Episode 9, Maui Wowie

Update: Jillian makes the worst decision yet. She lets Reid go and keeps phony-baloney Ed. ABC threw him under the bus big time tonight portraying his inability to perform in the bedroom. No way they would do that if he was her final choice in the end. So who’s the one with something to confess the day of the final rose ceremony, and does she finally gets some sense and send Ed packing? Wes must be laughing tonight, since it turns out he didn’t get the worst edit after all.

Most likely scenario: Reid comes back to “confess” his love and propose. What happens? ABC gives us a cliffhanger, where there’s no resolution at the end of the Final Rose Ceremony, and we have to wait until the next night’s After the Final Rose Show. It’s called a ratings draw.

And poor Kiptyn…he’s about to go from never having his heart broken to having it broken on national TV. This is the revolving door season. Why anyone agrees to go on this show becomes more of a mystery each season. It’s just one train wreck after another.

With one of the guys, the romance just wasn’t there. The date didn’t go exactly as planned.

final three

Which date went awry in the bedroom? They want us to think it’s Ed. Continue reading

Bachelorette: Ed Brings His Parents to Maui

This is the ABC short preview, followed by an extended preview of Jillian and Kip, Reid and Ed in Maui. Ed’s surprise: He flew his parents out to meet her. (Kip and Reid’s parents met Jillian on the home town dates.)

Here’s the picture of the Maui rose ceremony at the Olowalu Plantation House. Who sticks out like a sore thumb?

The newest preview from ABC is below: Continue reading

Bachelorette: Wes Hayden’s Post-Show Interviews (Don’t Believe the Edit, Part II)

Update (7/9): Don’t miss Reality Steve’s interview of Wes Hayden (podcast link here) .

Via The Examiner: Wes Hayden gave an interview today to Bobby Bones on KVET radio about what really happened between him and Jillian and the other guys. Editing is a b*tch, and he’s right, people should think twice before going on these shows. You can listen for yourself here (part1) and here (part 2.)

Did you have a girlfriend when the show was going on?

Wes: I had a girlfriend last summer. She’s still a very good friend of mine. Every now and then we’ll go out and do lunch or something like that. I mean, I did some work for her mom, I’m good friends with her family. They used her name on the show. And I just called them two weeks ago and was like, ‘Look. I don’t care what y’all do to me. You can say I’m the worst guy in the world and I’m here for my publicity, I’ve got a girlfriend. But don’t mention anybody’s name. Because as soon as you mention her name, people in Austin are going to know her, because we dated for a long time. Sure enough, they mentioned her name the very next day. The very next day, People Magazine called. She gave a great article.

Jillian…the end of our date that we had, it didn’t end like you saw it on TV. It was actually a very good date that we had. Continue reading

Bachelorette: The Rain in Spain, Episode 8

The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain …Wes reaches the end of the road. Kip, Reid and Ed go on to Hawaii.

Translation in my view: Wes puts the brakes on his affection, so Jillian has a reason to send him home. I think the producers knew he was leaving at F4, which is why they staged the whole “comeback” scene with Ed and the drama in Austin with Jake. Hawaii is where it will get interesting, when Jillian makes the F3/F2 cut on Maui.

But for now, let’s enjoy Madrid, Seville and Barcelona, and watch ABC continue to unfairly shred Wes’ character so it can keep the illusion that Jillian is torn between 3 men she has feelings for. ABC’s full description of Episode 8: Continue reading

Bachelorette Episode 7: Don’t Believe the Wes Editing

wesinspain

ABC is making me angrier every week with its splicing and dicing country music singer Wes Hayden’s edit. Don’t believe it for a minute. At least, I predict, he will survive the Home Town Date tonight despite mayonaise-y Jake’s pathetic attempt to crash Wes’ hometown date and tell her he has a girlfriend. As the picture above shows, Wes makes it on to Spain next week. (But he’s unlikely to be the final one (F1). I think he gets cut in Spain. ) I hope he shows up in Hawaii during the last episode to sing for Jillian and whomever she chooses as her F1.

It’s about to start, so I’ll just tell you who gets cut when techie Ed returns to muck things up during the rose ceremony: Vintner Jesse and Break-Dancer Michael won’t make the cut.

Update 7:10 pm: Reid’s hometown date goes well. He’ll go further, to Spain and Hawaii, but will he be the F1? Unknown right now.

Update: 7:20 pm: Michael’s date goes well, he’s adorable and head over heels for Jillian, but the chemistry isn’t there. He’s going home tonight with a broken heart.

Update: 7:35pm: Kip’s HTD was way too intense. Jillian is insecure about his family, Kip tells his sister proposing in a month may be premature, and their hot tub scene lacked spark. She will keep him on, to Spain and Hawaii, and I think he gets to the final two, but he won’t be the final one.

Update: 7:45 pm: Jesse’s HTD was the most moving so far. He really came out of his shell. Even his cynical brother came around. The winery was beautiful and of course I loved them all playing together like a rock band at the end. It will be sad to see him go home tonight. I wish Jillian would tell Ed to take a hike instead when he comes back. But, it’s unlikely. (Ed’s going on to Spain and Hawaii.) Continue reading
