ABC To Televise Jason and Molly’s Wedding

It’s official. On March 8, ABC will televise the wedding of former Bachelor and Bachelorette contestant Jason Mesnick to Molly Malaney, the woman he first rejected when he selected Melissa Rycroft, and then returned to.

The two-hour “The Bachelor: Jason and Molly’s Wedding” is set to air March 8. The event will include the bride’s dress fitting, planning for the big day, bachelor and bachelorette parties and the ceremony. Past “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” couples and participants will be on the guest list.

Well, that’s one way to get your wedding paid for and stay in the public eye. Will you watch?

Bachelor San Francisco: Jake Chooses 4 for Home Town Dates

San Francisco is the location for week 5 of The Bachelor. Here’s a break-down of the dates for Jake and the remaining 5 contestants:

There are three 1:1 dates and one 2:1 date. No roses are given during the dates, so all five make it to the rose ceremony. Jake lets one go and the remaining four get home town dates.

  • First is Tenley and a 1:1 date to Chinatown and the Coit Tower in San Francisco
  • Second is the 2:1 date with Gia and Vienna at the Castillo di Amorosa in Napa.
  • Third is Corrie at Golden State Park and dinner at the Science Museum.
  • Fourth is Ali, a day trip with brunch through the city ending with sunset on the Golden Gate Bridge.

Predictions: (Spoiler Alert): Corrie tells Jake she’s a virgin. She ends up being the one who goes home.

ABC Orders Up “The Bachelor Pad”

bachreunion

Update 5/2/10: It’s not a certainty Jesse Csincsak will be on. He’s not saying one way or the other. Stay tuned.

1/12/10: “The Bachelor Pad”, a spin-off that will be kind of like ‘The Bachelor/ette Meets Big Brother’ is coming to TV in late August, MC’d by Chris Harrison. I wrote about the possibility back in August. Question: If Chris is the MC, will there also be a host and who will it be?

20 former contestants on the Bachelor/Bachelorette shows will live in a Big Brother type house, competing for a cash prize. One will be evicted each week.

No release of names yet, but I bet a bunch are in the photo above. And one is a certainty: Jesse Csincsak. Jesse proposed a similar idea for a Bachelor Reunion show (The Bachelor All Stars) last year that got everyone thinking about it.

Some of my predictions: Natalie Getz, Michael Stagliano, Holly Durtz, Robby D, Tanner Pope, Juan Barbieri, Jesse Kovacs, Nikki Kapelke.

Who I doubt you’ll see: Wes, Melissa, Jason or Molly. Or Deanna.

Question: Will Jeremy or Graham be in? I bet not. How about Kiptyn and Reid? Jillian and Ed? No idea yet. Stay tuned.

Jake and Rozlyn: A Bachelor Failure of Proof

rozlynjakepool

Chris Harrrison’s new blog is up on last night’s not-so explosive shocker of Rozlyn being asked to leave the show for having an “inappropriate” relationship with a staffer. He says he’s going to tell us much more, but the more turns out only to be that he’s willing to say the “inappropriate” relationship was a “physical” relationship, not one just about feelings. Of course, he still doesn’t say “sexual relationship” which Rozlyn has denied.

I think Chris is still playing with words. Kissing and hugging are physical, but don’t always lead to a sexual relationship. For example, we saw Jake and Rozlyn kiss early on in last night’s show. I doubt anyone would characterize that as a sexual relationship. Yet Chris wants us to think there is a sexual relationship, even though he won’t use the word. If there was one, and the Bachelor had proof, they’d say so. The fact that they won’t means they can’t prove it. He talks about the other girls witnessing the physical relationship. That’s another clue it wasn’t sexual. Who has sex with other girls in the room — or even with the door open, in a house where the other occupants are your competitors?

Rozlyn did not seem surprised, and somehow, she knew enough not to respond to Chris’ allegations. I see two possibilities. One is the scene was edited after filming (hacked to death, really) so that what we ultimately saw had been cleansed of her denials. The other is that Chris and the exec producers, in addition to contacting their lawyers as he told us last week, gave Rozlyn’s agent a heads-up ahead of time — as well as permission to tell her what was about to happen, and advise her on how to react on camera. It’s Back to Bartending For This Former Bachelorette

Is there life after the Bachelor/Bachelorette? Apparently so, and while for some it leads to bigger and better things, like Melissa Rycroft who went on to Dancing With the Stars and Good Morning America, for others does it turn into “same as it ever was”…or worse?

Deanna Pappas, who was my favorite Bachelorette at the time, chose Colorado snowboarder Jesse Csincsak during her season, then dumped him. She moved to LA, went on to host a cable show about weddings based in Atlanta , was on TV some more as a commentator during Jason and then Jillian’s season, but hasn’t had much of a high profile the past few months — other than for dating the twin brother of one of Jillian’s rejected contestants.

Did she move back to her native Georgia and return to selling real estate? Hardly. According to E!, she’s still in L.A., and she’s bartending. (She was a bartender in Georgia back in college.) The place: The Tea Room at H.wood.

So, is it a step down from the Bachelorette to bartending? I don’t think so, here’s why. Continue reading

Bachelor Jake Begins Tonight

The new season of The Bachelor, starring Jake Pavelka, premieres tonight. Jake is the pilot Jillian Harris eliminated last season as being “too perfect.” I found him cloying. He’s also the one that came back after he was rejected to warn Jillian about country music singer Wes — a completely sleazy move in my view.

In addition to being moralistic, he’s also quite religious. I expect the season to be cheesy and bland, just like Jake. Why watch? Some of the women may be interesting and it’s fun to figure out in advance who’s going home and who is getting a rose. Also, in the past, some of their travel destinations have been beautiful, like New Zealand, Spain and Hawaii.

While it seems like California predominates this season (Big Sur, Carmel, San Francisco, Palm Srings), the final dates take place in St. Lucia, and the scenery and hotels and activities are sure to be impressive. The Final Rose Ceremony, which is usually at a rented villa, looks to be near Jade Mountain.

Tonight Jake will meet 25 girls and cut 10. Jillian and Ed will show up to help Jake decide. Next week, the 15 will move into the mansion.

The “shocking development” (according to Chris Harrison on the Valentine Show this morning (audio here) is that one of the girls was romantically involved with one of the show’s producers. He “stepped up to the plate”, got fired, she got axed from the show.

Who to keep an eye out for? For now I’ll only go to the final 9, who I think will be Ali, Corrie, Ashleigh, Gia, Vienna, Ella, Rozlyn, Tenley and Jessie. Ali, Gia and Vienna may be three that go further.

Celebrity Big Brother Launches in UK

Celebrity Big Brother

The contestants for the new season of Celebrity Big Brother have been kept under wraps. No more, the show launched tonight with the contestants entering the house. There are some surprises: Former Madam Heidi Fleiss and Stephen Baldwin.

Also in this season: Sisqo, Ekaterina “Katia” Ivanova (Rolling Stones Ron Woods’ ex-girlfriend), Vinnie Jones, Jonas aka Basshunter, Dane Bowers, Stephanie Beacham, Nicola T. (a model), Alex Reid, Lady Sovereign.

The show is lighting up Twitter, but they must all be in the UK, as the show doesn’t air here. A description:

A group of celebrities enter the Big Brother UK house for just around two weeks, competing in daily tasks to win a shopping budget. While the house mates nominate their fellow cast to be up for eviction, it is ultimately the public that decides who stays and who goes.

This is the show’s final season.
