Spoiler Alert: My primary interest in The Bachelorette is in the sleuthing… using clues from screencaps and other sources to figure out who’s going home and when, and who makes it to the final four and further, before the episodes air. The season opens tonight with Jillian Harris doing a “meet and greet” with 30 bachelors. You can see their pictures here. 10 will get sent home. Who are the ones we won’t be seeing again? Oh man. Screencap sleuthing too hard for me! I’m just going to continue to guess. I go with the pilot and the surfer guy, so far.
Let’s see…, forgive me for being harsh, but Juan, “great catch” guy and ‘I see you’re all dolled up in white but let me put black marker on your hand’ guy are total putzes (is that ok here?). And what was with foot guy!?!
I’d be really surprised if the pilot was the one that has the girlfriend–the editing kinda alluded to that.
So far, I like (or even remember), the pilot, Sasha, first impression rose guy (who looks just like the Rock!), and Wes.

Heh! I am watching out of loyalty to my friend and to my agent, who is one of the smartest people I know and who is addicted to this show…
Oh, and my friend is pretty damn smart too!
My gateway drug to reality TV (which I honestly have managed to avoid for many years) was ANTM. I have no idea why I like it as much as I do. I am one of the least fashionable people you would ever want to meet.
And next came “The Biggest Loser.”
Now, The Bachelorette. Sigh. Oh well! The only thing I will say that I know (because my friend is extremely discreet) is that apparently the guys are a lot of fun.
Now, what exactly do you mean by sleuthing via screencaps?
By comparing the screencaps (still pics taken from the show’s episodes and particularly previews of coming shows) you can figure out which guy is in which shot. By comparing those to the filming schedule and what cities they are in, you can tell a lot about who makes it and for how long. For example, if the schedule is for them to be filming in Spain on a date when they are down to the final three, and you can spot a guy there, then he’s in the final three. If a guy is in a screenshot of a date in a certain place the week before, but not in Spain, he probably got cut. Sleuthing also relies on sightings by reliable people including co-workers and lately, checking the facebook/twitter pages of the guys to see when they returned to work or resumed (or not) twittering and updating their facebook pages.
As I said in an earlier post, for sleuthing, head on over to FORT and for screencaps, Joker’s Updates. Links to both are in the sidebars under “Forums” here at PopLeft. The only problem is its very time consuming to read through the several hundred comments per threadat FORT, which is what you need to do to see if it’s a consensus or if it’s been changed.

Other Lisa, great to have you! I’ve watched since the end of Brad when he picked neither Deanna nor Jen, then Deanna’s season where I was rooting for Jesse who won. Jesse is a snowboarder from Colorado, who has let me interview him a bunch. I went to a charity event with him last month and he was even cuter in person. He’s still friends with all the many from his season and others, and they are fun to follow.
But, it’s the sleuthing that is the most fun. I’m getting great at PhotoShop from blowing up screencaps, sharpening them, etc, to figure out who’s in the finals. That’s the best part of the show.
Glad to have another watcher!
